1. Why do I need a ramp? A ramp is the safest, most dependable way to load your personal equipment without risking back injury, which is one of the main home and work related injuries. Also, it only takes one person to use a ramp and you don't have to bother your friends or neighbors every time you need to load your personal equipment.
2. How do I buy the ramp for me?
When purchasing a ramp you need to think about the following things:
- What are you wanting to load?
Depending on what you are wanting to load will determine what ramp you need to purchase. (Bi-Fold, Tri-Fold, Arch Ramp, etc.)
- How heavy is the item to be load?
Depending on the overall weight of the item to be loaded, will determine the load capacity rating of the ramp that you need to purchase.
- What is the width of the item to load?
You will need to determine what the wheel base width is for the item that you need load. For example: Bi-Folds come in widths from 40 inches wide to 44 inches wide and Tri-Folds come in a 52 inch width. So if you are loading a larger 4 wheeler, you will need a wider ramp.
- Will you load anything heavier or larger at any given time?
You will need to take into consideration the item that you have now versus an item that you may purchase in the near future.
- How tall is the vehicle that you are loading into?
What kind of truck do you drive? Is it a standard 2 wheel drive or a 4 wheel drive? What you have to make sure of is the Tailgate height when it is down to the ground. If you have a tall truck, then you will want a longer ramp. The thing that you don't want to get into is that the slope of the ramp is tilted to an almost straight up and down angle. This would be a safety concern. You wouldn't want the 4 wheeler or lawnmower to be in a position to rear up at the top of the ramp.
